Dr Rowan Gibbs is a specialist GP with interests in skin cancer medicine, central facial surgery and practical medical research.
He provides careful skin checks and discusses surgical and non-surgical options leading to effective management plans for any lesions identified.
Originally from Newcastle, Rowan has called Cairns home for much of the past two decades.
His earlier works in fishing, fisheries and remote communities helped inspire his journey through medicine and now as a skin cancer doctor.

A different path into medicine
Before medicine, Rowan worked as a commercial fisherman, fisheries consultant and observer, photographer and snake handler.
Work in remote communities gave him a lasting interest in providing access for regional communities.
He hopes to continue to support rural and regional through accessible skin cancer services and outreach.
