Community shaped her path into medicine
A Far North Queensland Beginning
Born and raised in Mareeba, Dr Marlee Paterson's interest in medicine began early.
During school holidays she volunteered at Mulungu Aboriginal Medical Centre, where she saw first hand how trusted local healthcare can support families and communities.
Thoughtful collaborative care
After six years of medical study at UNSW, Marlee graduated in 2020 as part of a landmark cohort of eight Indigenous medical graduates.
She completed her early hospital training in Sydney before returning to Far North Queensland.
